PDF Vault — Privacy-First Offline PDF Suite
Merge, split, sign, compress, OCR and convert PDFs 100% in your browser. Files never leave your device — the privacy-first offline PDF suite.
PDF Vault is a complete PDF toolkit that runs entirely inside your browser. You can merge, split, compress, sign, OCR, convert and protect documents without a single file ever being uploaded to a server.
Every mainstream free PDF service works the same way: you hand the file to a website, it travels to a datacentre you have never seen, a copy sits in third-party storage for somewhere between an hour and a day, and you get a download link back. For a holiday itinerary, fine. For a signed contract, a medical record, a tax return, a payroll export or anything covered by a data protection policy at work, that is a genuine exposure — and on a managed corporate machine, uploading it may itself be a reportable event.
PDF Vault removes the upload from the equation. There is no retention window to worry about, no vendor employee with access to your document, and no breach of ours that could ever involve your files, because we do not have them and never did.
How it works
- Drop in your file. The document is read straight into your browser's memory. There is no upload request, because there is no endpoint to send it to.
- Work on it locally. Merging, signing, OCR, conversion and compression all run as WebAssembly on your own processor.
- Download the result. The finished file is written directly to your downloads folder. Nothing is retained anywhere, because nothing was ever transmitted.

Why offline processing matters
You do not have to take the privacy claim on trust. Open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and run any tool on this site. You will not see a request carrying your document, because none is made. That is a stronger guarantee than a privacy policy, which is ultimately a promise about what a company intends to do with a file it already has.
There is one honest tradeoff. Very large files and heavy OCR jobs run faster on a datacentre GPU than on a laptop CPU. If you routinely process gigabyte-scale scan archives, a server-based tool will finish sooner. For everyday work — contracts, invoices, forms, reports and scans under a few hundred pages — local processing is usually faster anyway, because you skip the upload and download entirely.
Install it and work offline
PDF Vault is a Progressive Web App. Install it from your browser's address bar, or in Safari via File then Add to Dock, and it behaves like a native application with its own window. After the first load the whole suite is cached on your device, so merging, splitting, signing and compressing all keep working with no network connection at all.
Free and Pro
The free plan gives you three operations a day, forever, with no account and no email address required. PDF Vault Pro removes the daily limit from $10 a month billed yearly, or $15 month to month. Either way the processing model is identical: everything happens on your device. See the frequently asked questions for details, or read the guides on document privacy.
